Ecclefechan Surgery is looking for a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic apprentice to join our welcoming and supportive team.

As the first point of contact for patients, you'll play a key role in delivering a professional and efficient service both at reception and through telephone and email enquiries. You'll help patients access the services they need, manage appointments, and contribute to a positive experience for everyone who contacts the practice. You will also support the day-to-day administration of the surgery, maintaining accurate patient records, processing prescriptions and referrals, managing correspondence, and using a range of healthcare and digital systems.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions

• Develop expertise in Vision, the clinical system used to manage patient records, appointments, prescriptions, and medical histories

• Support the accurate recording and maintenance of patient information

• Process and manage inbound clinical correspondence using DOCMAN

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues using Microsoft Teams and other digital communication tools

• Assist with clinical administration tasks, including referrals through the Electronic Referral System (ERS)

• Support workflow management and general administrative duties across the practice
