Patient Choice is a dispensing appliance contractor contracted to the NHS. We focus on providing a high quality appliance home delivery service to patients that offers much more, such as repeat prescription collection, emergency deliveries in the UK or abroad, a sampling service and accessories.
About the role:
You will support the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of Patient Choice’s internal applications, systems, software and digital platforms.
Working with the Technology Team, you will gain practical experience across software development, application support, data, Microsoft 365, automation and general technology support. You will begin with structured guidance, training and supervision. As your knowledge and confidence develop, you will have the opportunity to take on responsibility for increasingly complex tasks and projects.
Responsibilities:
Assist with data cleansing, validation, reporting and basic database tasks
Support and develop Patient Choice’s internal applications, systems and digital platforms
Assist with coding, testing and system improvement tasks
Help identify inefficient processes and develop simple digital or automated solutions
Support the integration of systems, databases and cloud-based tools
Respond to technical and application support requests through the ticketing system
Assist and contribute with troubleshooting, bug fixing, testing and system updates
Provide practical support with Windows software, computers, devices and hardware
Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel and Forms
Help create simple workflows, forms, reports and automations using tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps
Use approved AI tools, including Claude AI and Microsoft Copilot responsibly to support development, research, testing and documentation
Check and validate AI-generated information and code
Required skills:
Some introductory exposure to coding or programming, gained through education, online learning, personal projects or self-directed study
Confidence using Windows-based computers and common software
Basic experience using Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams or OneDrive
Clear written and verbal communication skills
A logical and methodical approach to solving problems
Good organisation and the ability to manage agreed tasks and deadlines
The following experience is desirable (but not essential):
Creating a website, application, game, script, bot or automation
PHP, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript or another programming language
HTML or CSS
SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps or Power BI
Microsoft Azure or other cloud-based systems knowledge
Experience with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude AI or Microsoft Copilot
Online coding courses, technology clubs, bootcamps or personal technology projects
Entry requirements:
7 GCSEs total
English GCSE grade D (3) or above
Other 6 GCSEs, including Maths, to be C (4) or above
You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
