Open Door Scotland has been working with homeless and vulnerable young people in West Lothian for over 30 years. They are now seeking a Digital Support & Social Media Apprentice.
Responsibilities:
First point of contact for incoming enquiries via telephone, email and social media channels such as Facebook Instagram, responding professionally and directing enquiries to the appropriate team member
Using Microsoft Outlook to manage inboxes, schedule meetings and maintain effective communication with colleagues, supporters and external stakeholders
Become a system expert in systems such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and cloud-based document management platforms such as SharePoint to record, update and maintain information accurately using digital filing systems
Organising and managing digital files, emails and shared folders, ensuring information is stored correctly and can be accessed efficiently by the wider team
Collaborating digitally with colleagues through Microsoft Teams, participating in meetings, sharing updates and supporting day-to-day administration activities
Using Microsoft Excel to maintain records, track information, update databases and produce reports when required
Creating and scheduling social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, using digital marketing and content management tools
Using graphic design software such as Canva to create engaging social media posts, promotional materials, leaflets and digital content
Monitoring social media engagement, responding to messages and comments where appropriate, and supporting campaigns to increase awareness of the charity's services
Support with updating and maintaining company websites using platforms such as Webflow, ensuring content is accurate, engaging and aligned to brand guidelines. Assist with creating, editing and publishing web pages, uploading digital content, monitoring website performance and helping to improve the overall user experience

Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and representing the charity professionally at all times
Strong communication skills with a professional telephone manner and excellent written communication for emails, website updates and social media content
Creative approach to producing engaging digital content and social media campaigns
Good attention to detail when managing data, documents and online information
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and supportive environment
Positive attitude, willingness to learn and enthusiasm for developing digital administration and social media skills
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

They talk you through the specifics on the qualifications you gain and how they align in particular to your day to day role.
On completion, as well as the valuable work experience you have gained, you get a nationally recognised qualification at SCQF Level 6.
