Our expertise spans transport and mobility, banking and insurance, public sector, healthcare, energy, defence, luxury and retail.
About your role
This role is designed for a motivated individual who wants to launch a career in Project Management. Instead of looking for past office experience, we are looking for curiosity, problem-solving potential, and a drive to learn. You will train towards a nationally recognised qualification while supporting our team with client projects, team activities and business operation opportunities.
You will be working in Magellan Transport & Mobility, with a focus on the delivery of our services and projects to Network Rail and Rail Delivery Group, both of which will be merged into Great British Railways in 2027. This entry-level role is perfect if you want to build a career in Project Management. You will work alongside our experienced Programme and Project Managers to learn how we plan, run, and control our technology and consulting projects from start to finish. You will help keep our project plans updated, assist in tracking project spend, learn how to organise team schedules, and gain hands-on experience in how a fast-paced business operates.
What you will be doing (core responsibilities)
Project planning: shadow Project Managers to learn how we build and maintain project plans, helping to track key milestones and update task timelines.
Tracking progress & risks: learn how to use project tracking systems to maintain our RAID registers (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and check that team tasks are moving forward on time.
Team coordination: help organise and schedule project team meetings, prepare agendas, and take clear, professional action items and notes to distribute afterward.
Financial tracking: assist in tracking actual project spend against our budgets, learning how we manage project costs, WBS codes, timesheets, and resource plans.
Status reporting: help pull together weekly or monthly status updates and dashboards to share delivery progress with our management team and clients.
What we are looking for
Experience: none required! If you have experience in administration, event planning, hospitality, retail, or any role requiring strong organisation and multitasking, those skills are highly transferable.
Skills: highly organised with great attention to detail. Basic familiarity with using a computer (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and writing clear emails).
Attitude: a proactive, "can-do" mindset. You enjoy organising files and schedules, like helping teams stay coordinated, and are eager to learn how professional projects are delivered.
What you will learn and do
Grow your communication skills: learn how to handle internal and external enquiries via email, phone, and in-person with guidance from mentors.
Develop capabilities: support the team in scheduling meetings, managing records, and updating project/team documents.
Engage in continuous learning: dedicate 20% of your working hours to structured training, assignments, and skills development with your training provider.
Solve problems: take on tasks that grow in complexity as your confidence and capability increase throughout the apprenticeship.
What you will bring to the role
Growth mindset: an enthusiasm for learning new concepts and a willingness to act on constructive feedback.
Collaboration: a positive team player who listens well and supports colleagues.
Problem-solving attitude: enjoys figuring things out and asking questions when stuck, rather than waiting for instructions.
Curious mindset: willingness to share new ideas
Qualifications or experience required:
Level 3 Qualification (Apprenticeship/A Levels/BTEC etc.)
OR equivalent work experience (typically 2 years in a relevant role)
AND:
5 x GCSE’s including English & Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Support from day one through a comprehensive induction programme, designed to help you feel welcomed, confident and connected.

Hands-on experience working alongside experienced Project Managers on real client projects, gaining practical exposure to industry-standard project management tools, methodologies and best practice.
Dedicated learning and development support throughout your apprenticeship, including protected study time, expert training, regular coaching and mentorship to help you successfully achieve your qualification.
